Why Buy All/Sell All Comes First
Buy All/Sell All means ALL of the electricity your solar system produces is measured and purchased under WG+E's solar policy, while ALL of the electricity you use in your home or business is billed separately under the normal electric rate. This approach avoids shifting extra costs onto customers who do not have solar, makes solar easier to account for and helps WG+E manage the local power system.
In simple terms, it helps keep the program fair for everyone. Solar customers are still paid for the power their systems produce, while the costs of maintaining poles, wires, substations, crews, and the rest of the electric system are shared more evenly across all customers.
Frequently asked solar questions
