Utility Meter Technician Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Meter Reading: Accurately reading residential and commercial gas and electric meters.
· AMR Issue Investigation: Investigating basic issues related to Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems.
· Field Audits: Conducting field audits for the billing department to verify meter data and resolve discrepancies.
· Meter Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on meters, including painting and proving gas meters.
· Recordkeeping and administrative duties include:
- Assisting in developing and maintaining records of work performed.
- Following written inspection and maintenance programs.
- Assisting in maintaining associated procedures and manuals.
- All other duties as assigned.
Assists Utility Meter Technicians with the following:
· Commercial Meter Sets.
· Regulator Sets and Adjustments.
· Installation, removal, testing, inspection, and maintenance of:
- Gas Meters – positive displacement, rotary, ultrasonic, and turbine
- AMR meter module units
- Electric AMR capable meters
- Electric Non AMR capable meters
· Gas inspections including: Valve inspections, Abnormal Inspections, and Annual Gas Meter Inspection.
· Electric inspections including: CT/PT Inspections and Annual Electric Meter Inspection.
· All duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Entrance Requirements include, but not limited to:
.· Ability to be certified under WG+E (NGA) Operator Qualification within six (6) months of appointment.
· Superior customer service skills and team participation.
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Basic mechanical or electrical aptitude preferred.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel).
