Westfield Gas + Electric (WG+E) announces the launch of Home Plus, an innovative financing pilot program designed to help Westfield homeowners transition to energy-efficient air source heat pump systems while improving their home’s overall energy efficiency. The program provides up to $27,000 for heat pump installations and qualified home efficiency improvement incentives to homeowners currently heating their homes primarily with oil, wood, propane, or electric baseboard systems.

Key Program Features Include:

  • FREE Home energy audit
  • Covered costs
  • Heat pump installation
  • Insulation upgrades
  • Window and/or door replacements
  • Simple monthly repayment of capital improvements through utility bills
  • Ability to combine with existing federal tax credits and WG+E rebates
  • Freedom to choose qualified, licensed contractors
  • 0% interest with a flat $150 monthly repayment for the term up to 15 years

The “Home Plus” Pilot Program is backed by $1,500,000, self-funded by the WG+E. The pilot will be limited to 50 participants, selected in rounds throughout the year.

“Home Plus represents our commitment to making clean, energy efficient heating and cooling solutions accessible to Westfield residents,” said Tom Flaherty, General Manager. “By removing the upfront cost barrier and providing an easy repayment method through monthly utility bills, we’re making it simpler for homeowners to upgrade their heating systems and improve their home’s efficiency.”

Eligible Homeowners Must:

  • Currently heat their homes with oil, wood, propane, or electric baseboard systems
  • Own and reside in a home in a Westfield Environmental Justice Block group, designated by the Massachusetts 2020 Environmental Justice Populations Map
  • Be a current Westfield Gas + Electric customer in good standing

Program launches in January 2025. Interested homeowners can check their address eligibility and begin the application process by visiting wgeld.org/form-pages/home-plus. An Information Session will be held on Thursday, February 6th at 5:30pm at Westfield River Elementary, 133 Franklin Street.
