Our annual winter gas rate change took effect November 1. Energy market conditions have pushed this year’s supply charge higher than last winter’s. But there’s good news, too: El Niño is forecast to bring warmer than normal temperatures to New England. Because of that, the average customer’s heating bills may hold steady with last year, or even come in slightly lower. Milder temperatures mean less energy is needed to stay warm, especially compared to the bitter cold we experienced last winter.
